Walker's

Walker's was transformed from a dank trucker bar into a low-key neighborhood family bar and restaurant in the late 1980s and, despite the Tribeca real estate explosion and 9/11, is still standing strong. The atmosphere is unpretentious and inviting, with unfinished floors, a wooden bar and a tin ceiling. The two back dining rooms are chill, with paper-covered tables and crayons, while the front bar area buzzes with jazz, after-work regulars and a variety of draft beer on tap like Guinness and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. The pub grub is better than average, particularly a bowl of cowboy chili, a 12-oz. Angus shell steak and the beefy burgers. The crowd consists of local resident regulars, after-work finance fellows and a nightly parade of people who've heard whispers that this might be the best-kept secret in Tribeca.

Pass Up the Pecan Pie For Pumpkin

A slice of pecan pie has about 400 calories and pumpkin pie has about half that. You can cut the calories in your pumpkin pie even more by using an egg substitute, low-fat evaporated milk and a sugar alternative like Splenda.
